Each year, Power Curbers Companies hosts hundreds of owners, operators, and mechanics at our annual training school programs, Power Curbers Academy and Power Pavers Academy. Held at our professional training facility in Salisbury, NC, Power Curbers Academy offers participants classroom-based learning that includes sessions on hydraulic and electrical system maintenance, machine setup and troubleshooting, special applications, concrete mixes, and many other topics.

This year, Power Curbers Academy focused on providing training sessions tailored specifically to the latest generation of the world’s number-one selling slipform machine, the Power Curber 5700-D. These sessions aimed to equip participants with the knowledge and skills necessary to effectively operate and maintain their equipment. Additionally, Academy hosted specialized classes on 3D/Stringless slipforming in collaboration with leading providers– Leica, Topcon, and Trimble– further enhancing attendees’ understanding of advanced slipforming techniques and technologies.

One such satisfied participant, Armando Felan of HJC Farms in Texas, highlighted the tangible benefits of attending Power Curbers Academy. For contractors like Felan, learning essential maintenance procedures and operational best practices directly translates to increased efficiency and cost savings on the job site. Simple yet crucial tips, such as proper concrete release agent application, can make a significant difference in machine maintenance and operation.

“Learning to take care of our machine and things we didn’t know we were supposed to do has been very valuable,” said Armando Felan of HJC Farms in Texas. They typically use their Power Curber 5700-D to pour cable barrier, parapet, and 54-inch barrier wall.

The value of knowledge gained at Power Curbers Academy extends beyond individual attendees, as they share their training with crews upon returning home. Often, they consistently send operators, mechanics, and crews in the future to ensure they are properly trained. “Being able to share this knowledge with the guys back home is huge for us,” Felan said.

Learning how to properly maintain our machine and sharing that information with our team back home has been extremely valuable.

Power Curbers caps each class at 20 participants to ensure an individualized approach and that everyone has time to ask questions. The small class size allows instructors to provide one-on-one training. Participants, like Brad Page of Ameron Construction, appreciate this focus on customer support, reaffirming Power Curbers’ dedication to fostering long-term partnerships with its customers.

“You guys want to help instead of sell more stuff, and I’ve always been impressed by the level of product support you all provide, “ Page said. This is the second time he has attended Power Curbers Academy, and each time, he has learned something new.

Power Pavers also offers its annual academy in Cedar Falls, Iowa. These classes for the Power Paver SF-1700 and SF-2700 focus on safety, machine setup, operation, troubleshooting, hydraulic and electrical systems, concrete mix design, telematics, stringless technology and more. Participants at both Power Curbers and Power Pavers academy have the opportunity to tour our facilities. This provides a behind-the-scenes look at the manufacturing process of a 5700-D or Power Paver from start to finish.

Academy also serves as a platform for customers to provide valuable insight and feedback to Power Curbers for future product development. This collaborative approach, backed by our commitment to continuous improvement, ensures future products exceed our customers’ expectations and remain at the forefront of our industry.

Without our customers, we do not exist. Power Curbers and Power Pavers Academies are one way we demonstrate our dedication to supporting our customers’ success. Our goal is to provide customers with the knowledge and skills necessary to operate and maintain our equipment effectively. To learn more about our training programs, visit www.powercurbers.com.
